Hello ’73 Classmates,
Here we are, at the start of our 52nd year since we graduated from Princeton. I enjoyed the company of ’73 friends at our 51st reunion, this past May, as well as spending time with ‘73ers on Alumni Day. We had 70+ Classmates at Reunions, a good turnout for an off-year. As if our 50th wasn’t great enough, the Historic Class of 1973 won The Class of 1947 James Scott Clancy Memorial Reunion Trophy for the best planned and run major reunion in 1923. Those of us at the Alumni Council luncheon were able to celebrate this fabulous award (with a photo op, see our website homepage). Let’s continue to take advantage of our opportunities to connect! Here are the upcoming year’s events, so far, and updates on Class activities.
Upcoming Events
September 19 – 21: Every Voice: Honoring and Celebrating Princeton’s LGBTQ+ Alumni, https://everyvoice.princeton.edu/

Class Zooms
We are continuing our popular Class Zoom programs and Peter Dickson has three planned for this year: September (see above), January and March or April. Vinny de Luise (“My Life in Medicine and Music”) will be kicking off the series this year. A big thank you to Ellen Berstein (“The Latin American School of Medicine: an unlikely bridge of friendship with Cuba”), Jim Shinn ("From ChatGPT to Geopolitics: How will GenAI affect U.S. Foreign Policy?"), and Gail Finney ("The Fall of the Berlin Wall: My Experience as an Eyewitness.") for their Zoom presentations last year. We continue to have great presentations from a variety of Classmates. Let Peter (dicksonpd@cs.com) know if you would like to share your experience and knowledge on one of our Zooms.
Class Dues
Please pay your dues, still $50 per year. As in previous years, you can do that via check or go to our website princeton73.org to pay by credit card. If you are paying by check mail it to Class Treasurer Marv Pollack, 432 W Grant Pl, Apt 2E, Chicago IL 60614. Marv has also set up Zelle as a form of payment; instructions are on our website. As Marv says, “Paying by Zelle is fast, easy, and saves the Class processing fees. It is also safer than mailing a check and less expensive for you.” We use these monies to support our Class dinners, pay for our Zoom account, and pay dues to the Alumni Council, among other things. If you have any questions about your dues and where they go, email Marv at marv.pollack@gmail.com.
Class Notes and Memorials
Lisa Tebbe continues to do a super job with our Class Notes and says that she has had news from a broader range of Classmates than ever before. Lisa says to “keep it coming—plus pictures!” You can email her (elizabeth.tebbe@gmail.com) with your items to share. Barbara Hill, our Class Memorialist, has been busy since our 50th Reunion. Since she took this position, she has prepared 21 memorials; some have yet to appear in PAW. She has been reaching out to Classmates for input when she has a loss to commemorate, personalizing our memorials to those we’ve lost. As we on the leadership team have found out, this task is more complicated than it may seem. If you have news of a Classmate that we have lost or want to be included in the crafting of a Classmate’s memorial, please contact Barbara (bjmr@bjmrhill.com); she will appreciate your thoughts.
Annual Giving
From our Class Agent, Doug Grover: “Our participation rate this year was 46.1% for a total of $256,300. The entire (Princeton AG) campaign was 45% participation; we are no longer a market laggard.” Remember, we have previously been as low as 41%, the lowest of any class. This year’s total is our highest amount since 2011 and this is our highest participation for a non-major year since 2011. Thank you to all who contributed; let’s keep it up.
I wish laughter and good times for the Class of ’73 this year and for years to come. Keep connecting with each other and the “best damn place of all.” Stay well. Choose joy.
Tiger cheers and smiles,
Nancy Teaff, President
Princeton Class of 1973
